A pendulum clock loses.12 s a day if the temperature is 40″C and gains 4 s a day if the temperature is 20°C. The temperature at which the clock will show correct lime, and   the co-efficient of linear expansion (a) of the metal of the pendulum shaft are respectively :

(1) 25°C; a= l.85 x10 -5/°C
(2) 60°C; a=1.85 x 10-4j°C
(3)   30°C; a= l.8S x 10-3j°C
(4)    55°C; a= l.85 x l0-2/°C
