A person drives  12 km in east direction and then takes a left turn and drive for 5 km before before he stops. How far is he form the starting point by the shortest route?

  1. 17 km
  2. 15 km
  3. 13 km
  4. 11 km

    Answer: (3) 13 km 

    Solution:-
    According to the question look at the below diagram- 

    RE: A person drives  12 km in east direction and then takes a left turn and drive for 5 km


    Then, the  distance of short rout = sqrt.(12^2 + 5^2)
     = sqrt.(144 + 25)
     = sqrt.(169)
     = 13 km 

    Then, the shortest distance from starting point to end point is 13 km. 

    Hence, the correct answer is option (3) 13 km.
