    Swadeshi Movement

Swadeshi Movement has contributed to a split in the Indian National Congress resulting in the emergence of moderated and extremists.
The Indian National Congress split into two groups – the extremists and the moderates – at the surat session in 1907 held. The extremists were led by Tilak, Lajpat Rai and Bipin Chandra Pal and the moderates were led by Gopal Krishna Gokhale. At the Surat Sessin, The Moderate and extremist delegates of Congress met in an atmosphere surcharged with excitement anger.

The main objective was to attain Swaraj or Complete independence and not just self-government.
