A vessel, full  of water, weighs  16.5. When the vessel  is  1/4 full, it weighs 5.25 Kg. The weight of the empty vessel (in Kg) is :

Answer:  (1) 1.125

Solution:-
The weight of a vessel, full of water = 16.5 kg
Therefore, the weight of 1/4 vessel , full of water = 16.5/4
 = 4.125 kg 

The weight of vessel is 1/4 full = 5.25 Kg

Then. the weight of empty vessel = 5.25 – 4.125
 = 1.125 kg

Hence, the correct answer is option (1) 1.125

Weight of full water and a vessel is  = 16.5 —-1)

weight when its 1/4 full = 5.25
I.e weight of 1/4 water & a vessel is =5.25——2)

subtract equation  1) from 2)

we would have equation like….
(A vessel+ full water)-(A vessel+ 1/4 water)=16.5-5.25
A vessel+ full water-A vessel-1/4 water=16.5-5.25
i.e
weight of 3/4 water only = 16.5 – 5.25 = 11.25

weight of 1/4 water only = 11.25/3 = 3.75

weight of empty vessel = 5.25 – 3.75 = 1.50
