Comptroller and Auditor General of India

Performance Audit Report on the debt relief schemes in agriculture sector is carried out by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). For example, a CAG report tabled in Parliament in March 2013, said that 8.5% of farmers, out of 80,299 accounts audited, were not relief that they received under the debt waiver schemes.

Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) instituted by the Constitution of India under article 148, This authority audit all receipts and expenditure of the Government of India and the state governments. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India is mentioned in the Constitution of India under Article 148-151.

On 21 may 2013 President of India, Pranab Mukherjee  appointed Shashi Kant Sharma as new comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. He is a 12th CAG of India.
