    Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3) is known as Baking Soda.

    • IUPAC Name of Baking Soda = Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate
    • Chemical formula of Baking Soda = NaHCO3
    • It occurs in crystalline white solid and odorless in nature.

    Formation of Sodium Bicarbonate:
    By reacting carbon dioxide with aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide.
    CO2 + 2 NaOH → Na2CO3 + H2O    —- (1)

    Now react Na2CO3  with carbon dioxide makes concentrated Sodium Bicarbonate.
    Na2CO3 + CO2 + H2O → 2 NaHCO3  — (2)
