    Banana is a Herb. The scientific name for banana is musa sapietum.  The word banana comes from an Arab word “banan” meaning finger. Banana tree is not a tree, Banana trees are actually the world’s tallest herbaceous plant. Which full height of 15 to 30 feet in about one year. Bananas are produced mainly in tropical and subtropical areas of Africa, Asia, and Americas, as well as the Canary Islands and Australia. In some countries, bananas used for cooking may be called plantains. There are approximately 1000 different types of banana plants in the world. Bananas are a good source of vitamin C, potassium and dietary fiber. About 75 percent of the weight of a banana is water. The phrase ‘going bananas’ was first recorded in the Oxford English Dictionary and is linked to the fruit’s ‘comic connection with monkeys.
