    Black soil is found in the Gujarat and also find in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh (Deccan Trap). The southern parts of the Gujarat plains shows deep black soils. Black soils are also called regur. Black soils are categorized into three types according to the profundity, colour and cock matter, Shallow black soils, Medium black soils, deep black soils. Black soil are very dark and have a very high clay content. These soils cover an area of about 74 million ha, mainly in the central, western and southern states of India.

Soil is an important part of ecosystem. Life in an ecosystem is directly related to the type and composition of the soil found in it.
