    Gulbarga was the capital of the Bahmani Sultanate. The Bahmani Sultanate or Bahmanid Empire was a Muslim state of the Decan in Southern India and was one of the great medieval Indian Kingdom. The kingdom was situated on the northern Decan region up to the river Krishna. The Bahamani kingdom was founded by Alauddin Hasan in 1347 after his coronation, Alauddin Hasan established his capital at Gulbarga.

    Nowadays Gulbarga is known as Kalaburagi district of Karnataka state in southern India.
