The perimeters of two similar triangles are 30 cm and 20 cm respectively. If one side of the first triangle is 9 cm. Determine the corresponding side of the second triangle:

  4. 13.5 cm

In Triangle ABC  and triangle PQR.
AB/PQ = BC/QR = AC/PR = K (constant)       …………… (1)
Then,
AB = kPQ, BC = kQR and AC = kPR.
Therefore,
AB + BC + AC = k (QP + QR + RP)
30 = 20 k
k = 30/20
k = 3/2
From equation (1).
AB/PQ = 3/2
9/PQ = 3/2
PQ = 9 x 2 /3
PQ = 6
Hence, the answer is (3) 6 cm.
