Dadasaheb Phalke (30 April 1870 – 16 February 1944) produce first feature film in 1931, was Raja Harishchandra.  Dadasaheb Phalke (Dhundiraj Govind Phalke) also known as the father of the Indian cinema. In 1969, Government of India instituted the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, for lifetime contribution to cinema in his honour. In his career, he made 95 movies and 26 short films. Here is some most notable work

    • Raja Harishchandra – 1913
    • Monihi Bhasmasur – 1913
    • Savitri Satyavan – 1914
    • Lanka Dahan – 1917
    • Shri Krishna Janma – 1918

You know that Raja harishchandra was partly shot in Mathura Bhawan in Dadar, on a road now renamed Dadasaheb Phalke Road. Dadasaheb was inspired to become a filmmaker by 1902 French movie The Life of Christ.
