If the circumference of a circle is 18.6 cm more that its diameter, then what is the diameter of the circle?

    Answer: Diameter of Circle = 8.68 cm

    Explanation:

    According to the data provided in question,
    Circumference of circle = Diameter of circle + 18.6            — Eqn (1)

    Circumference of circle = 2πr ; (where r is radius)
    as 2r = D ; D = diameter of circle
    Hence, Circumference = πD                        — Eqn (2)

    Putting values of Eqn (1) and Eqn (2)

    D + 18.6 = πD
    πD – D = 18.6
    D(π – 1) = 18.6
    D (3.1415 – 1) = 18.6
    D (2.1415) = 18.6
    D = 18.6 / 2.1415 = 8.6855

    Diameter of circle = 8.68 cm
