A motor car completes a journey in 12 hours, the first half at the speed of 22 km/hr. and the second half at the speed of 26 km/hr. Find the distance?

    Answer: (2) 286 km

    Explanation:-
    Let the total distance of journey is X km.
    Time taken by car to covered the journey = 12 hr.

    The first half distance covered at the speed of 22 km/hr.
    Then, time taken by a car = X/ 2 x 22
    = X/ 44 hr.

    And second half distance covered at the speed of 26 km/hr.
    Then, X / 2 x 26
    = X / 52 hr.

    Then, total time taken by the car = X/ 44 + X/ 52 = 12
    (13 X + 11 X) / 572 = 12
    24 X = 12 x 572
    X = 572 x 12 / 24
    X = 572 / 2
    X = 286 km
    Then, the total distance is 286 km.

    Hence, the answer is (2) 286 km.
