The First Foreigner to Receive Bharat Ratna Award was Khan Abdul Gaffar in 1987 was an Independence activist furthermore Second Nelson Mandela was the Second foreigner. Nelson Mandela was the leader of the Anti-Apartheid Movement in South Africa.
Bharat Ratna means “Gem of India”. The Bharat Ratna was the India’s Highest Civilian Award, which was instituted on 02 January 1954 by the first President of the Independent India Rajendra Prasad along with three Padma Awards;

The first recipients of the Bharat Ratna were politician C. Rajagopalachari, scientist C. V. Raman and philosopher Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan in 1954.
Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan know as “Frontier Gandhi”. Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan ( 06 February 1890 – 20 January 1988) well known as Badshah Khan was a pashtun non-violent activist and close confidante fo Mahatma Gandhi. In 1985, he was nominated for the Nobel peace prize.
