Gram Panchayat Member’s Resignation Become Effective in How many Days?

Under Bihar Panchayat Raj Act, a member of Gram Panchayat may resign his membership in writing under his hand addressed to Mukhiya. After submission in how many days the resignation will become effective ?

  2. 15 days
  3. 21 days
  4. 28 days excluding Sundays

    Answer: 7 days

     

      1. The Mukhiya/ Up-Mukhiya may resign his office by writing under his hand addressed to the District Panchayat Raj Officer.
      2. Every resignation under Sub-section (1) shall take effect on the expiry of seven days from the date of its receipt by the District Panchayat Raj Officer, unless within this period of seven days he withdraws such resignation by writing under his hand addressed to the District Panchayat Raj Officer.
