A certain number of men can do a work in 60 If there were 8 men more it could be finished in 10 days less. How many men were there in the beginning

    Answer: (1) 40 

    Explanation:-
    Let the number of men in the beginning be X.

    According to the question, 
    (X + 8)/X = 60/50
    by cross multiplication, 
    50 (X + 8) = 60 X
    50 X + 50 x 8 = 60 X
    60 X – 50 X = 400
    10 X = 400
    X = 400/10
    X = 40 

    Then,  the number of men in the beginning was 40. 

    Hence, the correct answer is option (1) 40.
