    Answer: (c) 5 years

    Explanation:-

    Given- Rate = 8%,

    Let P = X and time = T

    According to question, 2X/5 = (X x 8 x T)/100
    T = 5 years

    Hence, in 5 years will the simple interest be 2/5 of the principal at 8% per annum.
