First Indian to Make a Speech in Hindi

First Indian to make a speech in Hindi before the UN General Assembly was Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In 1977 when he was as Indian foreign minister in the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Government had given a spirited speech at the UN General Assembly in Hindi. It was the first time a person had given the speech in Hindi at a global forum.
Atal Vajpayee is the only non-congress PM who has served a full term as Prime Minister of India. In 1957, Atal ji was elected for the first time Lok sabha member from Balrampur district. He won Padma Vibhushana Award in 1992 and Best parliamentarian award in 1994. Recently he was also awarded by India’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna.
