    The UN Economic and Social Council [ECOSOC]

    In October 2014, India has been re-elected for three years as a member to ‘The UN Economic and Social Council’ [ECOSOC]. The ECOSOC has 54 members, It is amenable for coordinating the economic, social and related work of 14 UN specialized agencies.

    ECOSOC is one of the main organs of the United Nations installed by the UN Charter in 1946. ECOSOC serves as the central network for the activities of the United Nations system and its specialized agencies, and supervises the subsidiary and expert bodies in the economic, social and environmental fields.
