    Brahmi

The Ashoka Inscriptions were engraved in Brahmi script. There are 33 inscriptions which are dispersed the areas of modern-day India, Pakistan and Nepal. In these inscription, Ashoka refers to himself as “Beloved of the Gods”.  In Rock Edict XIII Ashoka mentions about the casulities of Kalinga War and declared the renunciation of war. Ashoka embraced Buddhism after the Kalinga war. He was the first ruler in ancient India who embraced Buddhism.
