    The Jawaharlal Nehru Award is given for Outstanding contribution towards the promotion of international understanding. This award is given annually for outstanding contribution to the promotion of international understanding, goodwill and friendship among peoples of the world. This award instituted in 1965 by the Government of India. This award is administered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
