When was Jharkhand Formed?
Indian parliament passed the Bihar Reorganization Bill on 2 August 2000 to create the state of Jharkhand. Jharkhand formed on 15 November 2000, it was the southern part of the Bihar state. Ranchi is the Capital of Jharkhand. Jharkhand is situated in the eastern part of India bordering the states of Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa, and Chattishgarh. The state was formed with 18 districts which were formerly part of Bihar. More than one-fourth of Jharkhand’s land area is forested.
