The ratio of the number of boys and girls in a school is 3:2, If 20 % of the boys and 25 % of the girls are scholarship holders, then the percentage of the student who do not get the scholarship is:

    Answer: (2) 78 %
    Explanation:-
    The ratio of the number of boys and girls in a school = 3:2
    Then, let the number of boys = 3 X  & number of girls is 2 X.
    20 % of the boys = 3 X x 20/100
    = 3 X/5

    25 % of the girls = 2 X x 25/100
    = X/2

    The total scholarship holder students = 3 X/5 + X/2
    = (6 X + 5 X)/10
    = 11 X/10
    The percentage of scholarship holder students = 11 X 100/10 x 5 X
    = 22 %
    The percentage of the student who do not get the scholarship  =  100 – 22
    = 78 %
    Hence, the answer is (2) 78 %.
