The population of a town in 15,000. If the number of males increases by 8% and females by 10%, then the population becomes 16,300.

    Answer: (4) 5000
    Explanation:-

    The population of a town is 15,000
    Let be the number of female is X
    Then, the number of male is (15,000 – X)

    According to the question,
    X + X x 10/100 + (15,000 – X) + (15,000 – X ) x 8/100 = 16,300
    X + X/10 + 15,000 – X + 15,000 x 8/100 – X x 8/100 = 16,300
    15,000 + 1,200 + X/10 – 2X/25 = 16,300
    16,200 + X/50 = 16,300
    X/50 = 16,300 – 16,200
    X = 100 x 50 = 5,000

    Hence, the number of female is 5,000.
