In an election of two candidates, the candidate who gets 41% votes is rejected by a majority of 2412 votes. Find the total number of votes polled?

    Answer: (3) 13400
    Explanation:-
    Let the total number of vote = X
    Percentage of votes secured by opposite candidate = 100 – 41
    = 59 %.
    Difference of both votes in % = 59 – 41
    = 18 %
    Then, 18 % of X = 2412
    X  x  18/100 = 2412
    9 X/50 = 2412
    9 X = 2412  x 50
    X = 2412 x 50/9
    X = 120600/9
    X = 13400
    Hence, the total number of votes polled is 13400.
