What Percent Is x Larger Than z ?

If x is 50% larger than y and z is 25% larger than y, what percent is x larger than z ?

    Answer: (4) 20
    Explanation:-
    Let be the Y = P
    X is 50 % larger than Y ,
    Then, X = 150 P/100 = 15 P/10
    Z is 25 % larger than Y,
    Then, Z = 125 P/100 = 5 P/4
    X is larger than Z = 15 P/10 – 5 P/4
    = (30 P – 25 P)/20
    = 5 P/20
    = P/4
    In percent X larger than Z = (P/4) x 100/(5 P/4)
    = P x 4 x 100/4 x 5 P = 20 %
    Hence, the answer is (4) 20 %.
