Find the Percentage of Alcohol in the New Mixture

20 liters of a mixture contains 20% alcohol and the rest water. If 4 liters of water be mixed in it, the percentage of alcohol in the new mixture will be

  2. 50/3%

    Answer: (2).  50/3%

    Quantity of mixture in litres = 24.
    In which 20% is alcohol and rest is water, therefore, quantity  of alcohol in litre = 20% of 20 = 4 litre
    If four litre of water be mixed in mixture, the new mixture is 24 litre. but quantity of alcohol is same in mixture in litres.
    4 litre of alcohol present in 24 liter mixture. the percentage of alcohol present in new mixture =( 4 / 24 ) * 100% = ( 1 / 6 ) * 100%    = 50 / 3% of alcohol present in mixture.
