What will be the Percentage of Water in the New Mixtures? If

Three vessels whose capacities are 3:2:1 are completely filled with milk mixed with water. The ratio of milk and water in the mixture of vessels are 5:2, 4:1 and 4:1 respectively. Taking 1/3rd of first 1/2 of second and 1/7th of third mixture, a new mixture kept in a new vessel is prepared. The percentage of water in the new mixtures is:

  1. 28
  2. 24
  3. 32

    Answer: (2) 24%
    Explanation:-
Let be the capacity of three mixture = 3X, 2X and X
    1/3 of first vessels  = 3X/3 = X
    1/2 of second vessels = 2X/2 = X
    1/7 of third mixture = X/7
    The quantity of new mixture = X + X + X/7
    = (7X + 7X + X )/7
    = 15X/7
    The percentage of water = 2X/7 + X/5 + X/5×7
    = (10X + 7X + X)/35
    = 18X/35
    The percentage of water = 18X x 7 x 100/35 x 15
    = 24%
Hence, the answer is (2) 24%.
