What will be the Father Present Age? If

A father is 30 years older than his son. He was three times as old as his son before 5 years. What is the father’s present age?

    Answer: (1) 50 years
    Explanation:-
    Let be the age of father is X years and the age of his son is Y years.
    According to the question,
    In first condition –
    X = Y + 30
    X – Y = 30                           …………………. (1)
    In second condition –
    X – 5 = (Y – 5)
    X – 5 = 3Y – 15
    X – 3Y = – 15 + 5
    X – 3Y = -10                  ……………………. (2)
    Solve equation (1) & (2)
    Y = 20
    Thus, the age of the son is 20 years.
    The age of the father is 30 + 20 = 50 years
    Hence, the answer is (1) 50 years.
