The price of an article is raised by 30% and then two successive discounts of 10% each are allowed, Ultimately, the price of the article is:

    Answer: (3) Increased price by 5.3 %
    Explanation:-
    Let be the price of an article = Rs.100
    The price of an article is raised by 30 %,
    Then, the price of an article = 100 + 100 x 30/100
    = 100 + 30
    = Rs.130
    Two successive discount of 10 % each = 10 + 10 – 10 x 10/100
    = 20 – 1 = 19 %
    Then, the discount of an article =130 x 19/100
    = 24.7%
    Then, The price of an article = 130 – 24.7
    = 105.3
    The increased price = 105.3 – 100
    = 5.3 %
    Hence, the answer is (3) increased by 5.3%.
