How Much Profit Get by A? If

A, B and C are shareholders in a company. In a certain year A got 1/3rd share of the profit, B received 1/4th share and C got ₹ 5,000. Then how much profit did A get?

    Answer: (4) 4, 000

    Explanation:-
    Let the total profit be X.

    A shared of the profit = 1/3rd
    B shared of the profit = 1/4th

    Total shared by A and B = 1/3 + 1/4  = (4 + 3)/12 = 7/12
    C shared of the profit = 1 – 7/12 = (12 – 7)/12 = 5/12

    C shared of the profit = X x 5/12 = 5000
    5 X = 5000 x 12
    X = Rs. 12000

    Then, the shares of A = 12000/3 = Rs. 4000.

    Hence, the answer is (4) 4, 000.
