The average age of a mother and daughter is 21 years. The ratio of their respective age is 5:1. What will be the ratio of their ages after 5 years?

    Answer: (A) 10: 3
    Explanation:-

    The average age of  a mother and daughter = 21 years
    Sum of their age = 2 x 21 = 42

    Let be the age of mother and daughter = 5X and X
    Then, 5X + X = 42
    6X = 42
    X = 42/6
    X = 7
    Thus the age of mother and daughter = 5 x 7 and 7
    = 35 years and 7 years

    After 5 years their age = 35 + 5 and 7 + 5
    = 40 years and 12 years

    Therefore, the ratio of their age = 40/12
    = 10: 3

    Hence, the ratio of their ages after 5 years is 10: 3.
