What will be the Ratio of Present Age?If

The age of a father 10 years ago was thrice the age of his son. Ten years later father’s age will be twice that of his son. The ratio of their present age is:

    Answer: (2) 7 : 3
    Explanation:-
    Let be the age of the father is X years  and age of the son is Y years.
    10 years ago ,
    X – 10 = 3( Y – 10)
    X – 10 = 3Y – 30
    X – 3Y = -20                 ……………………..(1)
    10 years later,
    X + 10 = 2(Y + 10)
    X – 2Y = 10   . ……………………………………..(2)
    Solve equation (1)   &    (2)
    X = 70 years   and              Y = 30 years
    The ratio of present age is 7 : 3
    Hence, the answer is (2) 7 : 3
