# What will be the Ratio of Present Age?If

The age of a father 10 years ago was thrice the age of his son. Ten years later father’s age will be twice that of his son. The ratio of their present age is:

- 8:5
- 7:3
- 5:2
- 9:5

**Answer: (2) 7 : 3**

**Explanation:-**

Let be the age of the father is X years and age of the son is Y years.

10 years ago ,

X – 10 = 3( Y – 10)

X – 10 = 3Y – 30

X – 3Y = -20 ……………………..(1)

10 years later,

X + 10 = 2(Y + 10)

X – 2Y = 10 . ……………………………………..(2)

Solve equation (1) & (2)

X = 70 years and Y = 30 years

The ratio of present age is 7 : 3

Hence, the answer is (2) 7 : 3
