The ratio of A’s age to B’s age is 3:8. The sum of their ages is 55 years. What will be their respective ratio of age after five years?

    Answer: (1) 4 : 9
    Explanation:-
    Let be the age of A & B = 3 X   &   8 X.
    The sum of their age = 3 X + 8 X = 55
    11 X = 55
    X = 55/11
    X = 5
    Then, the age of A  &  B = 3 X = 3 x 5 = 15 years   &  8 X = 8 x 5 = 40 years
    Their after five years,
    Age of A & B = 15 + 5 = 20 years &  40 + 5 = 45 years.
    Their ratio of ages after five years = 20/45
    = 4/ 9 = 4 : 9
    Hence, the answer is (1) 4 : 9.
