    Answer : (2). Rs. 44, 000

Let the salary of January of Mr. X be ‘Y’
The salary spends in month January, 2011 = Rs. 17, 600.
    35% of his salary spent on food = 35Y/100 = 7Y/20,
    5% of his salary spends on children education = 5Y/100  = 1Y/20 .
    The salary spends in January 2011 = 7Y/20 + 1Y/20 .
     17, 600 = 7Y/20 + 1Y/20
    17, 600 = 8Y/20
    17, 600 * 20 = 8Y
    3, 52, 000 / 8 = 44, 000.
    The salary of January of Mr. X = Y = Rs. 44, 000
