    Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is an Indian Government programme aimed at the free and compulsory education to chindren of age 6 – 14 as a fundamental right.

    The programmer was initiated by India’s ex Prime Minister  Atal Bihari Vajpayee ( 1999 – 2004 )

    Present goals of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan :

    Open new schools in areas which do not have them to expand existing school infrastructures and maintenance.

    Address inadequate teacher numbers, and provide training a development for existing teachers

    Provide quality elementary education including life skills with a special focus on the education of girls and children with special needs as well as computer education.
