If a watch is sold for Rs. 120, there is a loss of 15%. For a profit of 2%, the watch is to be sold for.

    Answer: (1) Rs. 144

    Explanation:-
    The selling price of a watch = Rs. 120
    Loss = 15%
    Then, the cost price of a watch = 120 x 100/85
    = 120 x 20/17
    = Rs. 141.17
    Profit = 2%

    Then, the selling price = 141.17 + 141.17 x 2/100
    = 141.17 + 2.823
    = 143.993 = Rs. 144
    Then, for a profit of 2%, the watch is to be sold for Rs. 144.

    Hence, the answer is (1) Rs. 144.
