    Red Laterite Soil

Red laterite Soil is more suitable for crops like cashew nut. Laterite soil formed when weathering of rocks with high temperature rainfall. The layer of laterite soils is rich from iron oxide. Laterite soil commonly found in Keral, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. This soil is acidic in nature and not capable of retaining moisture.

The best soil for cashew are deep and well-drained sandy loams without a hard pan. Excessive alkaline and saline soils also do not support it growth Red sandy loan, lateritic soils and  coastal sands with slightly acidic pH are best for cashew.
