The ratio of the number of boys and girls in a school is 3:2. If 20% of the boys and 25% of the girls are scholarship holders, then the percentage of the students who do not get the scholarship is

    Answer: (2) 78 %
    Explanation:-
    The ratio of the number of boys and girls in a school =  3:2
    Then, Let the number of boys = 3 X  & number of girls 2 X.
    Scholarship holder boys = 20 %
    Then, the 20 % of boys = 3 X x 20/100
    Scholarship holder boys = 3 X/5
    Scholarship holder girls = 25 %
    25 % of the girls = 2 X x 25/100
    = X/2
    Total students who get scholarship = 3 X/5 + X/2
    = (6 X  + 5 X)/10
    = 11 X/10
    The percentage of scholarship holder student = 11 X x 100/10 x 5 X
    = 22 %
    The percentage of students who do not get scholarship = 100 – 22 = 78%
    Hence, the answer is (2) 78 %.
