Hiuen Tsang was a Chinese Buddhist monk, scholar, traveler and translator visited India in Ancient Times. He wanted to visit all the sacred places connected with the life of Buddh, as well as to learn of Buddhism through study. Hiuen Tsang visited Kashmir and the Punjab. He proceeded to Kapilavastu, Bodh-Gaya, Sarnath and Kusinagara. He studied in the University of Nalanda. For 15 months Hsuan Tsang studied at Nalanda to learn Sanskrit. He even studied Indian philosophy, grammar and logic. The trip terminated at Nalanda, the leading center for Buddhist learning in India. After a study period of 15 months at Nalanda, He resumed his travel.
