    Prairies

The temperate grasslands of North America are known as Prairies. grasslands cover twenty five percent of the Earth’s land and are found on every continent, except for Antarctica. Prairies are enormous stretches of flat grassland with moderate temperatures. moderate rainfall, and few trees.  The soil in prairies is excellent for growing crops and many of the grassland in North America have been turned into farms and ranches.
