The average age of 40 students of a class is 15 years. When 10 new students are admitted, the average age is increased by 0.2 years. The average age of the new students is:

    Answer: (2) 16 years
    Explanation:-
    The average age of 40 students of a class = 15 years
    Then, the total age of 40 students = 40 x 15 = 600 years.

    10 new students admitted and the average increased by 0.2%
    Then, the total number  of students = 40 + 10 = 50
    And new average = 15 + 0.2 = 15 .2 years
    Then, the total age of 50 students = 50 x 15.2
    = 760 years.
    The total age of new students = 760 – 600 = 160 years
    Then, the average age of new students = 160/10 = 16 years
    Hence, the answer is (2) 16 years.
