The price of sugar having gone down by 10%, a consumer can by 5 kg more sugar for Rs.270. The difference between the original and reduced price per kg is

    Answer: (b) 60 paisa
    Explanation:-
    Let be the original price of sugar = Rs.X
    Then, the reduce price of sugar = X – 10 X/100
    = (100 X – 10 X )/100
    = 90X/100
    = 9 X/10
    According to the question,
    270/(9 X/10) – 270/X = 5
    270 x 10/9 X – 270/X = 5
    300/9 X – 270/X  = 5
    (300 – 270)/X = 5
    30/X = 5
    X = 30/5 = 6
    Therefore, the original price of sugar = Rs.6
    Reduced price of sugar = 9 x X/10 = 9 x 6/10
    = Rs.5.40
    Thus, the required difference = 6 – 5.40
    = Rs.0.60 or 60 paisa.

    Hence, the answer is (b) 60 paisa.
