The intact prokaryotic ribosome is referred to as 70s ribosome

The intact prokaryotic ribosome is referred to as 70s
ribosome, the larger subunits is 50s and the smaller is called
30s.This apparent discrepancy is becausea.

  1. Sedimentation velocity is determined both by shape and
size and hence is not measure of mass.
  2.  The mass of intact ribosome becomes lesser as its volume
    is less.
  3. S is a unit used to measure size and the size of intact
    ribosome is lesser.
  4. All the above are incorrect explanations.
