The largest number which divides 70 and 125, leaving remainders 5 and 8 respectively is
(a) 13
(b) 65
(c) 17
(d) 3

    Answer: (a) 13

    Solution:-
    The largest number which divides 70 and 125,
    Then,
    70 = 13 x 5 + 5
    125 = 13 x 9 + 8

    The second one works for 70 but
    125 = 65 + 60 so it doesn’t work for 125.

    The 3rd and 4th all have quotient of 0 and so the remainders are 70 and 125.

    So,  13 is the only one that works, and the answer is a.

    Hence, the correct answer is option (a) 13.
