The ratio of ages of Meena and her mother is 3: 8. The difference in their age is 35 years. The ratio of their age after four years will be-
(a) 5: 12

    Answer: (a) 5: 12

    Solution:-
    The ratio of ages of Meena and her mother = 3: 8
    Let the age of Meena and her mother be 3 X & 8 X

    The difference of their ages is 35 years. 
    Then, 8 X – 3 X = 35 
    5 X = 35
    X = 35/5
    X = 7 

    Then, the age of Meena and her mother are 3 X = 3 x 7 = 21 years & 8 X = 8 x 7 = 56 years. 

    So, the ration of their ages after four years = (21 + 4)/(56 + 4)
     = 25/60
     = 5: 12

    Hence, the correct answer is option (a) 5: 12.
