If the sum of two numbers is 137 and the difference is 43, then what will be the two numbers?

    Answer: (3) 90, 47

    Explanation:-
    Let the two numbers are X and Y
    If the sum of two numbers is 137,
    Then, X + Y = 137 …………………….. (1)

    The difference of two numbers is 43,
    Then, X – Y = 43 ………………….. (2)
    Add equation (1) and (2),
    X + Y + X – Y = 137 + 43
    2X = 180
    X = 180/2
    X = 90
    Put the value of X in equation (1),
    Then, 90 + Y = 137
    Y = 137 – 90
    Y = 47

    Then, the two numbers are 90, 47.

    Hence, the answer is (3) 90, 47.
