Two sheets of paper with measure 22 cm by 28 cm are taken. Each sheet is then rolled into a cylindrer, one having the height 22 cm and the other of height 28 cm. The difference in their volumes (in cm3) will be
(a) 216
(b) 294
(c) 316

    Answer: (b) 294cm³.

    Solution:-
    The length and breadth of a rectangular sheet = 28 cm and 22 cm

    One sheet is rolled into cylinder having 22 cm height,
    Then, circumfarence of cylinder = 28 cm
    2 π r = 28
    r = 28 x 7/22 x 2
    r = 7 x 7/11
    r = 49/11
    r = 49/11 cm

    Then, the volume of the cylinder = π x (49/11)² x 22
    =1372m³.

    Another sheet rolled into cylinder having 28 cm height,
    Then, circumfarence 0f cylinder = 22 cm
    2 π r = 22
    r = 22 x 7/22 x 2
    r = 3.5 cm

    Then, the volume of another cylinder = π x (3.5)² x 28
    = 22 x 12.25 x 28/7
    = 1078 cm³

    Thus, the difference of the volume = 1372 – 1078
    = 294 cm³

    Then, the difference their volume is 294 cm³.
