# What will be the Value of the Whole Property? If

A man divides his property so that of his son’s share to his wife’s share and the ratio of his wife’s share to his daughter’s are both as in the ratio 3:1. If the daughter gets ₹ 10,000 less than son, the value (in rupees) of the whole property is

- ₹ 16,250
- ₹ 16,000
- ₹ 18,250
- ₹ 17,000

**Answer: (1) Rs. 16, 250**

**Explanation:-**

The ratio of property between son and wife = 3 : 1

And, the ratio of property between wife and daughter = 3 : 1

Therefore, The ratio of property among the son, wife & daughter = 3 x 3 : 3 x 1 : 1 x 1

= 9 : 3 : 1

Then, Let be the pat of son, wife & daughter in property = 9X, 3X & X

Part of son – part of daughter = Rs.10,000

Then, 9X – X = 10, 000

8X = 10, 000

X = 10,000/8

X = 1250

Thus, the whole property = 9X + 3X + X = 9 x 1250 + 3 x 1250 + 1250

= Rs.16,250

Hence, the answer is (1) Rs.16, 250.
