What will be the Value of the Whole Property? If

A man divides his property so that of his son’s share to his wife’s share and the ratio of his wife’s share to his  daughter’s are both as in the ratio 3:1. If the daughter gets ₹ 10,000 less than son, the value (in rupees) of the whole property is

    Answer: (1) Rs. 16, 250
    Explanation:-
    The ratio of property between son and wife = 3 : 1
    And,  the ratio of property between wife and daughter = 3 : 1
    Therefore,   The ratio of property among the son, wife  & daughter = 3 x 3 : 3 x 1 : 1 x 1
    = 9 : 3 : 1
    Then, Let be the pat of son, wife & daughter in property = 9X, 3X & X
    Part of son – part of daughter  = Rs.10,000
    Then,   9X – X = 10, 000
    8X = 10, 000
    X = 10,000/8
    X = 1250
    Thus, the whole property = 9X + 3X + X = 9 x 1250 + 3 x 1250 + 1250
    = Rs.16,250
    Hence, the answer is (1) Rs.16, 250.
