If water is freezed to become ice, its volume is increased by 10%, then if the ice melted to water again, its volume will be decreased by:

    Answer: (2) 9  1/11%

    Explanation:-

    Let the volume of the water be = 100 ml

    If water is froze   to become ice, its volume is increased by 10%.
    Then, the volume of the ice = 100 x 110/100
     = 110 ml

    If the melted to water again,
    Then, the volume of the water = 100 ml

    The volume decreased by = 110 – 100
     = 10 ml

    Then, the percentage of decreased volume = 10 x 100/110
     = 100/11 %
     = 9  1/11%

    Hence, the answer is (2) 9  1/11%.
